It depends on the hours of sun your yard receives, and the amount of work you’d like to do to maintain the grass.
If you have a shady area that receives anywhere from 3-6 hours of sun, we recommend one of our Zoysia grasses. Geo Zoysia is a fine-blade that can tolerate 3-4 hours of sun (but also thrives in full sun, too). Empire Zoysia is a strong, hardy wide-blade that can tolerate 5-6 hours of sun per day (also thrives in full sun). Each of these are slow growing, but still need to be mowed quite low (½ inch to 1 ½ inches) in order to maintain a healthy lawn.
If you have full sun in your yard, any of our grasses will do well, but especially the Bermuda (Tifway 419) will be successful in 8-12 hours of sun. It is very hardy, tolerates foot traffic well, and is grows quickly. It establishes itself further by growing “runners” laterally across the ground. Those runners in turn establish roots and then propagate more Bermuda.

We are located in Cartersville, 45 minutes north of the Atlanta perimeter. One advantage of buying sod from Legacy Turf Farms is that our sod is grown in the same native soil you'll be planting it in. Most sod grown in Georgia is based hours away, below Macon in South Georgia. We cut our sod fresh to order, and can deliver quickly so that your sod spends less time on a truck.
